The Annual Coastal Spring Checklist
Here are 10 quick things you should check around your house before the summer heat arrives.
Inspect Outdoor Hose Bibs
Turn on each outdoor faucet. If water trickles or doesn't flow, a pipe may have frozen and cracked over winter. Call us before it becomes a flood.
Reconnect Outdoor Faucets & Irrigation
If you winterized your sprinkler system or outdoor kitchen, now's the time to turn the water back on and check for leaks at every connection.
Test Your Sump Pump
Spring rains are coming. Pour a bucket of water into the sump pit — the pump should kick on and drain it within seconds. If not, call Clint.
Flush Your Water Heater
Sediment builds up all winter. Flushing your tank improves efficiency and extends its life. We recommend this annually — we can do it in under an hour.
Check for Slow Drains
Hair, soap, and grease build up over months. If any sink, shower, or tub is draining slowly, get it cleared before it becomes a full backup.
Inspect Toilet Internals
Lift the tank lid and flush. Watch the flapper — if it doesn't seal cleanly, you're wasting water 24/7. A running toilet can waste 200+ gallons per day.
Look Under Every Sink
Open the cabinet, feel around the pipes and supply lines. Any moisture, drips, or staining means a leak that's been hiding all winter.
Check Your Water Pressure
If pressure seems lower than usual, it could be a sign of a hidden leak, a failing pressure regulator, or mineral buildup in your pipes.
Inspect Washing Machine Hoses
Those rubber hoses behind your washer have a lifespan. Look for bulging, cracking, or wet spots. A burst hose can dump hundreds of gallons into your home in minutes.
